49 Battery

HQ Battery, 40 Regt

49 HQ Battery  

1st August 1779 - Raised as  9 Coy, 4 Bn. (Capt C. Woods Coy)

  40 Regt RA Formed on 1 Apr 1947, Dortmund  

1993 HQ Bty re-designated 49 (Inkerman) HQ Bty

    31st January 1819  Disbanded

  Served in Dortmund until 1954

    1998 – 40 Regt in Topcliffe

16th August 1848 Reformed as 9 Coy, 4 Bn.      

  1954 Deployed to Suez  

2008 - Regt moved to Northern Ireland 

3rd November 1848 Became 4th Coy 11th Bn

  1955 deployed to Cyprus  

 

1st July 1859 Became 8th Bty 4th Bde

  1958 Regiment moved to Munster  

1861 Became H Bty 4th Bde

  1965 moved to Bulford  

1st March 1875 Became F Bty 25th Bde

  1965 – 1966 deployed to Borneo

1st July 1877 Became N Battery 6th Bde

  1969 moved to Gutersloh

1st April 1882 Became P Bty 1st Bde

  1981 Moved to Colchester

1st July 1889 Became 19th Fd Bty R.A.

  April 1985 moved to Hohne

3rd February 1899 Became 19th Bty R.F.A 

 

 

March 1924 Became 19th Fd Bty R.A

 

 

March 1947 as part of reorganisation of the Artillery, re-designated 49th Bty R.A sub unit of 23 Fld Regt R.A

 

 

22nd June 1955 Became 49th (Inkerman) Bty R.A  

 

 

1958 Battery joined 42 Field Regiment, untill disbandment in 1977

 

1977 Became 49th Fd Bty to 40 Regt RA,

 

 1981 Became 49 Fd Bty 47 Regt RA

 

1982 Became 49 Fd Bty 27 Regt RA

 

 1993 Became 49 (Inkerman) Headquarter Bty  40 Regt RA
